    Client Care Specialist

    One on One experiences with the people we serve! The main purpose of this position is the consultation, registration, confirmation of attendance and any needed follow‐up of appointments for eligible LGBT women and transgender men attending LHI biannual Health Fair. Must attend mandatory CCS training, commitment of 3‐5 hours a week

    LHI Health Fair Social Media Outreach

    Social media is a powerful tool. Use it for good by helping us spread the message about the LHI Health Fair on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Blogs and other social networking sites and apps. Virtual volunteer position, commitment to spread LHI approved posts during the months leading up the fair.

    Health Fair Event Preparation

    For the event planning lovers! Responsibilities include:

    Stuffing Client Bags, Assembling Bins of Materials, Transporting Materials, Event Set Up. Commitment of 3‐5 hours month prior to health fair. Volunteering will take place at LHI office and/or Houston Area Community Services. Vehicle to transport items is greatly appreciated.

    Day of Health Fair​ Volunteer

    Change and Save Lives! Volunteer at Houston Area Community Services the day of the health fair, a commitment of 7 hours as well as a mandatory training that is 2 hours. Positions are assigned by LHI staff after completion of the LHI Health Fair Volunteer application.

    Assist LHI staff in event preparation and planning of the volunteer holiday party

    Other volunteer and health fair events as assigned

    Outreach to LGBT People of Color

    This is a high level volunteer position. Work directly with Executive Director to implement outreach strategies surrounding Bi‐annual health fairs. We are looking for volunteers that are friendly, compassionate, confident and articulate, with the ability to communicate complex health‐related messages. Fluency in Spanish is highly preferred.

    Trans*gender/Gender non‐conforming Community Outreach

    This is a high level volunteer position. Work directly with Executive Director to implement outreach strategies surrounding Bi‐annual health fairs. We are looking for volunteers that are friendly, compassionate, confident and articulate, with the ability to communicate complex health‐related messages. Deep understanding of gender identity and expression is highly preferred.

    Assistant Volunteer Coordinator

    Prerequisite: Nonprofit Volunteer coordination or management experience or comparable for profit Human Resources experience. This is a NEW volunteer position with LHI and will include helping to further develop LHI’s Volunteer program infrastructure and processes.

  • Becoming an LHI Health Fair Volunteer

    Here's how you can help us during our biggest event.

    1. Complete the LHI Health Fair Volunteer Application

    You must complete both the general application and the health fair application! 

    You will receive an email formally inviting you to apply for an LHI Health Fair volunteer position. The application will allow you to select your preferred assignment, T-shirt size, and lunch. Final volunteer assignments will made by LHI staff with consideration given to prior LHI Health Fair experience and when the application was submitted.

    2. Attend Mandatory LHI Health Fair Training

    Training is required even if you have volunteered at a health fair in the past!

    Training is held at Houston Area Community Services in the evening. You will be trained on patient confidentiality, volunteer assignments, and the importance of proper set up and break down. You will meet other amazing volunteers like yourself and get all your questions about the health fair answered!

    3. Change and Save Lives!

    Volunteer at the Health Fair on Nov 5, 2016

    Set up volunteers arrive at 6:30 a.m. and general volunteer sign in begins at 7:30 a.m. You will arrive for check in, the group photo, and set up. Lunch is around 12:00 and break down is over by 4:00 p.m.There will be many thank you hugs after a long and wonderful day!
